you can download metatrader from http://www.metaquotes.net and sign in at http://www.alpari-idc.com .it's free.
If you want to check stock prices you can just go to yahoo finance (finance.yahoo.com). If you actually want to invest money you'll likely need to open a brokerage account. Opening the account is free though you'll need to pay a fee to buy or sell stocks (generally $10-$15 per trade) and some brokerages charge an account service fee if your balance is below about $5000.
not too sure what your looking for but if you mean stuff like bid and ask, tick by tick chart and that type of stuff you might take a look at medved.com quote tracker. I have a broker with all that level II crap but use medved anyway. I just like it better. It is add sponcered and you need to click on the add's a couple times a week. If you like the software but find the add's suck, you can upgrade it for about $60.
